Using a National Will Register

Sunday, April 19th, 2009

This is a letter the Certainty National Will Register has received from a member of the public.

Although I’m only relatively ‘young’, as I’ve got children, have various life assurance policies and own a house, I’ve decided to arrange to have my Will written to safeguard my family. I’ve just read about the National Will Register ‘Certainty’ and after reading about the benefits it can bring I’m going to select a solicitor in my area through their website so as members they will be able to sign me up as part of the Will Writing process.

Lasting powers of attorney

This is a letter the Certainty National Will Register has received from a member of the public.

I recently set up a business with two other people and have been currently completing the standard formalities that one undertakes to officially form the company. Trying to control the controllables leaves me to outline the purpose in my situation of a lasting power of attorney which I feel is most relevant in these times of economic uncertainty, stress and anxiety for business owners.

So we finally get our Will sorted and can breathe a sigh of relief but where can we store it so it’s easily found? A Will can be easily lost if kept in the home as often happens when people move house, for example. There is also the added question of security; do you want other members of your family to have access to your Will?

How do I locate a lost Will?

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

This is a letter the Certainty National Will Register has received from a member of the public.

My Grandmother recently died and to add to what’s been a very upsetting time for the whole family, we haven’t been able to locate her lost Will. My Father seems to think that he recalls her writing Will years ago but we haven’t been able to find it. We’ve checked with the last solicitor she used but they have no record of it.

How do I write a new Will?

Friday, April 10th, 2009

While it is possible for a person to make a Will, this can lead to problems such as the Will not being valid.  A Will made without legal advice may mean that property will not pass as the deceased intended. It is far safer, and usually easier, to see a solicitor, who will find out how you want your assets to be dealt with and write a new will.  They will then advise as to the appropriate type of Will and other matters that you may wish to take into consideration.

Most people assume that when you die your Will is easily found but if you’re anything like me, keeping your Will safe may realistically be the last thing on your mind.

Individuals and Solicitors can now register a Will with the National Will Register Certainty.co.uk and this will allow your family to locate your Will when you pass on and ensure that your last wishes are respected, eliminating distress and financial loss brought about by a lost or missing will.

Do I need to find a Will Writing Solicitor?

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

This is a letter the Certainty National Will Register has received from a member of the public.

The situation recently arose where I felt it necessary to write a Will rather urgently. I couldn’t find my local solicitor online so I decided to trawl the net for a Will Writer. It became confusing and here’s why. There are two types of organisations from what I can gather who can write a Will for you – will writers and solicitors. So does this mean I need to find a Will Writing solicitor or just a Will Writer?

The Search for a Will goes on

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

This is a letter the Certainty National Will Register has received from a member of the public.

A friend of mine unfortunately lost her Aunt recently and there were no other surviving family left. She had been told by her Aunt that her Will had been written and was safely stored in a cabinet which had accrued 60 years worth of filing. With funeral expenses to pay for immediately one of the first things she did was to search for a Will. Her first port of call was obviously to search the cabinet in question which took her believe it or not nearly two days to sort through and she decided to get ready to dispose of any non relevant paperwork, and save any other paperwork – bank details etc. Unfortunately after days of thorough searching no Will was found.

This is a letter the Certainty National Will Register has received from a member of the public.

Great, I’ve found the Will Registry I’m going to use to register my Will and I’ll tell you why. On searching the internet there are various Will Registries. So which one do you select? Well I’ll tell you why I’ve selected Certainty.co.uk. What should a Will Registry do? It should be a secure place in order that should your family not be able to locate your Will and somebody is administering your estate usually a solicitor, that the solicitor should be able to search for the location of your Will.
