Do I need to find a Will Writing Solicitor?

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

This is a letter the Certainty National Will Register has received from a member of the public.

The situation recently arose where I felt it necessary to write a Will rather urgently. I couldn’t find my local solicitor online so I decided to trawl the net for a Will Writer. It became confusing and here’s why. There are two types of organisations from what I can gather who can write a Will for you – will writers and solicitors. So does this mean I need to find a Will Writing solicitor or just a Will Writer?

Again a simple job of trying to produce a Will now is not only an investigation but it also leaves me confused as to who I should be writing it with. On doing my research I discovered that ideally I should be using a Solicitor to write my Will and therefore need to find a Will writing solicitor.

Most people online that advertise as just will writers are indeed not solicitors but people and organisations with varying degrees of experience in writing Wills. However, as my Will needs writing urgently and due to its complex nature I have decided to stick with a solicitor to handle my affairs as I understand that all solicitors are regulated by the Law Society and therefore have professional indemnity and I will have redress should anything go wrong in their hands.

I simply entered into Google ‘find a will writing solicitor’ and the name of my area and certainty.co.uk popped up with a list of find a Will Writing solicitor in my area.

Be Safe and use Certainty to register a will on the UK’s National Will Register.
