Register a will
Friday, May 15th, 2009
This is a letter the Certainty National Will Register has received from a member of the public.
I’ve written my Will and my solicitor has now given me the opportunity to register it via certainty the Uk’s Will Register which records the location of your will. I didn’t even realise it was necessary to register a will but when I looked into it I can’t believe how many wills actually go missing and are assumed lost. If this happens your estate would be treated as if you had never written a Will.
Not wanting this to happen to the people who I love and care about, I can really see now how important it is not only to write a will but to register a will too. If you write your will when you and your children are still relatively young, by the time they’ve grown up they may not even be aware of who your solicitor was. Even if they did know the name of your solicitor who even knows if the solicitor will still be there in 20, 30 years time and couple that with a house move or two and your children probably not even living in the same town or country as you, the location of your will is not really a certainty until you choose to register a will.
In light of this I think I’ll take the final step and register. After all I’ve gone to the trouble of actually writing my Will so it makes sense to take this final step.
Be Safe and use Certainty to register a will on the UK’s National Will Register.
