Trying to Locate a Will

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

This is a letter the Certainty National Will Register has received from a member of the public.

My Father recently passed away unexpectedly at the age of 56 which has obviously been a very distressing time. To make matters worse, we haven’t been able to locate his Will which has caused us unimaginable further turmoil. My Father separated from my Mother two years ago and my Father was living with his new partner who he married just 7 months ago. Dad used to look after my brother and I financially and paid for all of our living and education expenses as we are both under 18.

Our search to locate a Will for him started with us going through all his personal belongings, asking friends and relatives if they were aware if he’d made a Will and of course checking with his solicitor and bank. My Mother is so worried how she is going to take care of us financially and is sure that he would never have wanted for his children not to be financially looked after in the event of his death. Dads new wife is refusing to help us in any way and infact is acting very unsympathetic which is just adding to the frustration and bitterness. I think she’s rather smug that we’ve been unsuccessful in our search to locate a Will.

I’m currently researching other ways to locate a Will including contacting the major Will finder services and the national Will register Certainty. In the meantime, I urge all parents out there to do the right thing for your kids by writing a Will to save them from the distress that my brother and I have had to go through.

Be Safe and use Certainty to register a will on the UK’s National Will Register.

Our family is also experiencing similar distress caused by a lost Will. People just don’t realise the problems a missing Will can potentially cause.
